Helping Students Build a Solid Financial Foundation

PeoplesBank is proud to support financial literacy in our local communities through the PeoplesBank Financial Scholars Program. Through this program, we provide students at local elementary, middle, and high schools with free online financial literacy courses. We have helped hundreds of children build their financial capability and learn good financial habits. Students learn about a wide range of financial topics, including income and careers, budgeting, credit cards, saving, and investing. Each course is tailored to the students’ grade level to ensure the learning incorporates real-world scenarios. Learn more about our financial literacy levels below.

Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Grades 1, 2, 3

Money Made Easy (Pre-K – 2nd Grade)

Through the exploration of children’s literature, story problems, and hands-on activities, students begin to develop connections between coins and bills and the concept of using money to make purchases.

  • 1 hour interactive lesson
  • Practice identifying, sorting, and counting coins
  • Each student receives a PeoplesBank swag bag

Saving for a Rainy Day (Pre-K – 2nd Grade)
Encourage students to consider various reasons to save, including for a “rainy day.” Students will learn about savings goals and creating a rainy day fund to pay for unexpected expenses.

  • 1 hour interactive lesson
  • List reasons people save money and share a personal savings goal
  • Each student receives a PeoplesBank swag bag

Snacks & Storieswoman with group of students
Help students learn about financial literacy with a twist on the classic game of MadLibs™. Students will take turns
providing words to complete a story. Once the story is complete, it will be shared and discussed as a group. Or, choose a classic story time experience with corresponding activities. Students will be provided with a snack to
enjoy during story time and a PeoplesBank swag bag.
