Congratulations to Stephanie Simmerman of New Freedom for being one of our Redeem Your Dreams winners! She won $1,000 to put toward her dream of achieving financial freedom for her and her six-year-old son, Connor.
Stephanie’s Story
Stephanie is a single mom who has been raising her son on her own since he was a baby. Like many single mothers, financial struggles are common and money is tight. Some nights, Stephanie worries about whether or not she will have enough money to go grocery shopping and put food on the table.
After her son was born, Stephanie went back to school to better herself for her son and earned her legal certificate. She has a passion for office work and is currently working in York and learning new accounting skills in her position. She hopes to gain valuable experience to further her career in this field.
Stephanie is also currently a part of the York Habitat for Humanity homeownership program and is striving to become a first time homebuyer. She has already completed over 50% of her sweat equity and is hoping to be able to have a house of her own soon. She looks forward to having a safe, stable home for her son to grow up in.
Stephanie plans to use the $1,000 to buy nutritious groceries, treat her son to some fall fun, and pay off bills. She is grateful for a break from her financial struggles and happy to have some stability in her life. She plans to put any remaining funds into a savings account for her son.
